About Me
The futurist Alvin Toffler wrote, "The illiterate of the twenty-first century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn" I started teaching in 1993 and have been learning, unlearning, relearning and loving every minute of it ever since.
My professional life has encompassed many facets of education. I currently work as the Assistant Head of School for Synapse School in Menlo Park, CA. Prior to working in this role, I was the Director of Curriculum at Keys School in Menlo Park and the Director of Academic Technology, a 7th grade English and an upper school digital video teacher at Belmont Hill School. I have also taught 12th grade Digital Journalism, 6th grade math and science, and worked as a technology integration specialist in grades K-12. I am trained in design thinking, project based learning, and as a Critical Friends coach.
Outside of the classroom I sit on the board of the Independent Curriculum Group (ICG), I have been recognized by organizations across the country. I was selected to be a 2013-14 NAIS Teacher of the Future. I was also invited by NAIS to sit on their Technology Task Force. I regularly speak about curriculum and technology at conferences around the country and around the world. I am also a founding organizer of both EdcampBoston and EdcampIS (Independent Schools), two unconferences that bring together hundreds of educators to talk about teaching and learning. I blog at The Power of Educational Technology and over 11,000 educators from all over the world follow me, @lizbdavis, on Twitter.
I have always been inspired by the craft and methodology of good teaching and learning. My 25 years of education experience has provided me with a holistic vision for preparing students to succeed in the 21st century.
